Recently Anthony Collet, Fleet 1 member and owner of #171 Salient, visited our sister fleet in Japan and sends his report:

Just thought I'd let you know that I connected with Tatsuki Senoo and Goro Fukuda of M242 Fleet 5 in Himeji last weekend and went for an afternoon sail on Tatsuki-san's boat called March. About 8 or more fleet members came down to the yacht harbour and it was really fun to meet them.

They have invited me to join a two-day delivery to Shiraishi Island next week for a regatta on July 5 (multiple classes, and should be about 4 M242s participating). I'll let you know how it goes.

  

Tatsuki-san is old friends with Craig Strand (#5 Whippet) and also knows Don Martin and other key fleet 1 and 2 members from years past. Tatsuki-san must be quite a guy as I understand that he brought 10 M242s to Japan in the 90's; what a project!

Apparently, there are nine active boats to varying degrees in the Japan fleet. One boat has disappeared. I think five are in Himeji and four somewhere to the west, maybe Okayama. The photos showed pretty old sails, but apparently they have racing sails that are much newer.
